What you see here is a picture taken in October 1950.Its a picture of the Phillies swamping then pitcher Robin Roberts after he beat the Brooklyn
Dodgers in the final game of 1950 season.Thats right its not the playoffs. In 1950 you had to win the National League to get into the World Series. Some will tell you that it was easier to win the National League back then win the playoffs now.I believe that the eight team league was maybe tougher to win then beating todays playoff setup.
What I really want to say is that I believe that Philadelphia should celebrate the remaining members of that Whiz Kid team because they went on to be beaten in four straight by the very great 1950 Yankee team.Just think of bringing the remaining Kids back before the packed Citizens Bank Park crowd many of whom might not know them. They know which of that great team ended up in the Hall of Fame and they understand numbers. The biggest number is that it was he first Phillies appearance in the classic since 1917.
Bring them back Phillies before they are all gone.
